More Than a Container Company. An Environmental Mission.

Salt Lake IBC is a full-service intermediate bulk container company headquartered in Woods Cross, Utah 84087. We specialize in the buying, selling, cleaning, reconditioning, and recycling of IBC totes — the 275- and 330-gallon containers that are the backbone of liquid storage and transport across dozens of industries.

What sets us apart from other container dealers is simple: sustainability is not an afterthought for us. It is the foundation of everything we do. Every IBC that passes through our facility is evaluated for its highest possible reuse potential. If it can be cleaned and resold, we do that. If it can be reconditioned with new parts, we do that. And if it has truly reached end of life, we disassemble it and recycle every component — the HDPE plastic bottle, the steel cage frame, the composite pallet, and even the valve assembly.

Our goal is straightforward: keep industrial containers out of Utah's landfills while providing businesses with affordable, high-quality bulk storage solutions. We believe that economic value and environmental responsibility are not mutually exclusive — they are two sides of the same coin.

Over the years, we have grown from a small-scale recycling operation into one of the most recognized IBC service providers in the Intermountain West. Today, our facility in Woods Cross processes over 15,000 containers annually, serving customers from agriculture, food manufacturing, chemical production, construction, and many other sectors. We maintain one of the largest inventories of reconditioned IBCs in the state, allowing us to fill orders of any size with minimal lead time.

Whether you are a small family farm looking for an affordable water storage solution, a mid-size food manufacturer seeking food-grade reconditioned totes, or a large industrial operation needing a steady supply of hundreds of containers per month, Salt Lake IBC has the capacity, expertise, and commitment to serve you.

Our Mission & Values

These core principles guide every decision we make, from how we process a single IBC tote to how we build relationships with our customers and community.

Zero-Landfill Commitment

We are working toward a future where no IBC component ever reaches a landfill. Through meticulous disassembly and material-specific recycling streams, we currently divert 97% of all materials we handle. Our goal is 100%.

Quality Without Compromise

Every reconditioned IBC that leaves our facility has been triple-washed, pressure-tested, and visually inspected. We never sell a container we would not use ourselves. Our reputation depends on the reliability of every single unit.

Community-First Business

We are a locally owned Utah business that employs local people, serves local industries, and reinvests in the communities that support us. From farms along the Wasatch Front to manufacturers in the Salt Lake Valley, our neighbors are our customers.

Circular Economy Advocacy

We actively promote the circular economy model in Utah's industrial sector. By demonstrating that used containers can be transformed into valuable products, we challenge the disposable mindset and show that reuse is both practical and profitable.

Transparent Pricing

We believe in honest, upfront pricing with no hidden fees. Whether you are buying a single reconditioned IBC or scheduling regular bulk pickups, you will always know exactly what you are paying for and why. Fair dealing is not negotiable.

Continuous Improvement

We are always looking for better ways to clean, recondition, and recycle IBCs. We invest in new equipment, train our team on evolving best practices, and track environmental metrics to ensure we are making measurable progress every year.

What We Stand For

Our values are not abstract ideals on a poster. They are operational principles that inform how we hire, how we process containers, how we treat our customers, and how we measure success. Here is a deeper look at the six pillars that define Salt Lake IBC.

01

Environmental Stewardship

We believe that every business has a responsibility to minimize its environmental footprint, and we hold ourselves to that standard rigorously. Environmental stewardship at Salt Lake IBC means tracking every pound of material that enters and leaves our facility, maintaining detailed recycling records, and setting aggressive annual targets for waste reduction. It means choosing biodegradable cleaning agents over cheaper alternatives, investing in water reclamation systems even when it is not required by law, and voluntarily exceeding state environmental compliance standards. We view our facility not just as a business but as a demonstration that industrial operations and environmental care can coexist profitably.

02

Operational Excellence

We run our facility with the discipline and precision of a manufacturing plant. Every IBC that enters our doors follows a documented workflow with defined quality checkpoints at each stage. Our inspection criteria are standardized and regularly audited. Our cleaning protocols are calibrated to the specific contamination type and level of each container. Our reconditioning standards specify exact tolerances for cage straightness, bottle clarity, valve function, and gasket integrity. This systematic approach ensures consistency across thousands of containers and eliminates the variability that plagues less disciplined operations. When you buy a reconditioned IBC from us, you get the same quality whether it is the first unit off the line or the ten-thousandth.

03

Customer Partnership

We do not view our customers as one-time transactions. We build lasting partnerships based on reliability, honest communication, and mutual benefit. That means we will tell you honestly if a reconditioned IBC is not suitable for your specific application and recommend a new container instead. It means we follow up after delivery to make sure everything met your expectations. It means we remember your preferences, your delivery requirements, and your ordering patterns so we can anticipate your needs before you even call. Many of our longest-running customers have been with us for years, and we attribute that loyalty to the simple principle of treating every customer relationship as a long-term investment.

04

Workforce Development

Our team is our greatest asset, and we invest in them accordingly. Every new hire completes a comprehensive training program covering IBC inspection, cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and environmental compliance. We provide ongoing education as industry standards evolve and new technologies emerge. We promote from within whenever possible, giving our team members clear career progression paths. We maintain competitive wages and benefits because we believe that attracting and retaining talented people is essential to delivering the quality and service our customers expect. A well-trained, well-compensated, and motivated workforce is the engine that powers everything we do.

05

Innovation and Adaptation

The IBC recycling industry is constantly evolving. New container designs, new cleaning technologies, new environmental regulations, and new customer requirements emerge every year. We embrace that change rather than resist it. We actively research and test new cleaning methods, new recycling partnerships, and new ways to extract value from end-of-life containers. Our upcycling program, which transforms IBC components into rain barrels, garden beds, and other creative products, is a direct result of our innovation mindset. We are always asking: what else can we do with this material? How can we serve our customers better? What technologies will make our processes more efficient and more sustainable?

06

Integrity in Every Transaction

We believe that trust is the foundation of every successful business relationship. That is why we are transparent about our pricing, honest about the condition and grade of every container we sell, and straightforward about what we can and cannot do. We do not oversell our capabilities, we do not make promises we cannot keep, and we do not cut corners on quality to improve margins. When we make a mistake, we own it and make it right immediately. Our integrity is not negotiable, and it is the reason that word-of-mouth referrals remain our most powerful source of new business. In an industry where trust matters, we have earned ours one container at a time.

The Full IBC Lifecycle, Under One Roof

Most companies only handle one part of the IBC lifecycle. We manage the entire journey from acquisition to final recycling, giving our customers a single point of contact for all their container needs.

01

Sourcing & Acquisition

We purchase used IBCs from manufacturers, food processors, chemical companies, and agricultural operations across the Intermountain West. Our pickup service makes it easy for businesses to offload containers they no longer need.

02

Inspection & Grading

Every IBC is inspected by our trained team. We evaluate the structural integrity of the cage, check the bottle for cracks or UV degradation, test the valve, and grade the unit for its best possible second life.

03

Cleaning & Reconditioning

IBCs that pass inspection enter our triple-wash cleaning line. We use high-pressure rinse cycles, food-safe detergents when required, and thorough drying. Worn components like valves, gaskets, and lids are replaced with new parts.

04

Sales & Distribution

Reconditioned IBCs are made available for purchase and delivered to customers throughout Utah. We offer individual units, bulk orders, and scheduled delivery programs for businesses with recurring container needs.

05

End-of-Life Recycling

IBCs that cannot be reconditioned are disassembled into their component materials. Steel cages go to metal recyclers, HDPE bottles are shredded and reprocessed, and pallets are recycled or repurposed. Nothing is wasted.

06

Upcycling & Custom Projects

Some IBCs get an entirely new life as rain barrels, raised garden beds, aquaponics systems, or custom industrial equipment. We love turning what others see as waste into creative, functional products.

Inside Our Woods Cross Facility

Our 18,000-square-foot facility in Woods Cross is purpose-built for high-volume IBC processing. Here is what you would see if you walked through our doors.

Receiving & Intake Bay

The first area you encounter is our receiving bay, where trucks deliver used IBCs from businesses across the region. Each incoming container is immediately tagged with a tracking number and logged into our inventory management system. The intake bay has capacity for several truckloads at a time and is designed with grade-level access for efficient offloading. Containers are sorted into initial categories here: those heading to inspection, those with known contamination requiring special handling, and those that are clearly end-of-life and will proceed directly to disassembly.

Inspection & Grading Station

Adjacent to the receiving bay is our dedicated inspection station, where trained inspectors evaluate every container against our multi-point grading criteria. The station is equipped with bright overhead lighting for visual assessment, pressure testing equipment for leak detection, and digital measurement tools for checking cage dimensions and bottle thickness. Inspectors document their findings on each container and assign a grade that determines its pathway through the rest of our facility: reconditioning, downgraded use, or material recycling.

Triple-Wash Cleaning Line

The heart of our reconditioning operation is the triple-wash cleaning line. This area features three sequential wash stations: the pre-rinse bay for removing bulk residual contents, the detergent wash station with heated water and food-safe or industrial cleaning agents, and the final rinse station using clean water for a spotless finish. The cleaning line includes water capture and reclamation systems that filter and recirculate wash water, reducing our fresh water consumption significantly. After washing, containers move to the drying area where forced-air systems remove all moisture before component replacement.

Reconditioning & Assembly Area

Once cleaned and dried, IBCs enter our reconditioning area where worn components are replaced. This station stocks a full inventory of replacement parts: butterfly valves, cam-lock valves, gaskets, cap assemblies, lid seals, and labels. Technicians replace any component that shows wear beyond our acceptable thresholds and perform final functional tests on every valve and seal. The reconditioning area also handles cage repair for containers with minor structural issues that can be corrected without compromising integrity.

Recycling & Disassembly Zone

Containers that cannot be reconditioned are moved to our recycling zone, where they are carefully disassembled into their component materials. Steel cages are separated and stacked for pickup by our metal recycling partners. HDPE bottles are removed from their frames, inspected for contaminant levels, and either shredded on-site or sent whole to our plastic reprocessing partners. Composite pallets are broken down for wood and plastic recycling. Even small components like brass fittings and rubber gaskets are sorted into dedicated bins for recycling through specialized channels.

Ready Inventory & Shipping Dock

The final area of our facility is the ready inventory zone and shipping dock. Reconditioned IBCs that have passed all quality checks are stored here, organized by grade, size, and type for rapid order fulfillment. Our shipping dock accommodates multiple delivery trucks simultaneously, allowing us to load and dispatch orders efficiently. We maintain an inventory of several hundred reconditioned IBCs at any given time, ensuring that most orders can be filled from stock without waiting for processing. The dock also serves as the staging area for outbound recycling shipments to our material partners.

Community Involvement

Being a local business means being part of the community, not just operating in it. Salt Lake IBC is deeply committed to giving back to the neighborhoods, organizations, and people that have supported our growth over the years.

We actively participate in local environmental initiatives across Davis County and the greater Salt Lake Valley. Our team members volunteer for community cleanup events, river restoration projects, and recycling education programs at local schools. We believe that teaching the next generation about the importance of reuse and recycling is one of the most impactful things we can do beyond our daily operations.

We also partner with local community gardens and urban farming organizations by donating repurposed IBC components. Our upcycled rain barrels and raised garden bed frames have been installed at community gardens in Woods Cross, Bountiful, North Salt Lake, and Salt Lake City, helping residents grow fresh produce while demonstrating the practical benefits of container reuse.

During the annual Utah Recycling Coalition events, we open our facility for tours to educate business owners and community members about the IBC recycling process. These tours have become a popular way for people to see firsthand how industrial recycling works and how their purchasing choices can support a healthier environment.

We also support local youth sports teams, sponsor booths at community fairs in Davis County, and participate in the Woods Cross Business Alliance. Our commitment to community is not a marketing strategy. It is a reflection of who we are and the values that drive our business every day.

Our Partners & Suppliers

Salt Lake IBC does not operate in isolation. Our ability to deliver high-quality reconditioned containers and achieve our environmental goals depends on a network of trusted partners and suppliers who share our commitment to quality and sustainability.

Metal Recycling Partners

We work with certified scrap metal processors in the Salt Lake Valley who accept our separated steel cage frames. These partners melt down and reforge the steel into new products, completing the recycling loop for one of the heaviest components of every IBC. We audit our metal recycling partners annually to ensure they meet environmental compliance standards and maintain proper documentation of material processing.

HDPE Plastic Reprocessors

Our plastic recycling partners specialize in high-density polyethylene reprocessing. They accept our shredded or whole IBC bottles and convert them into pellets that are used to manufacture new plastic products. By partnering with reprocessors who maintain high standards for contamination control, we ensure that the plastic from our end-of-life IBCs re-enters the manufacturing supply chain rather than being downcycled or discarded.

Replacement Parts Suppliers

We source high-quality replacement components from trusted manufacturers who produce IBC valves, gaskets, cap assemblies, and lid seals that meet or exceed original equipment specifications. Our supplier relationships ensure consistent availability of parts, allowing us to maintain reconditioning throughput without delays. We evaluate our parts suppliers on quality, reliability, and consistency.

Cleaning Chemical Suppliers

Our cleaning agents are sourced from suppliers who specialize in biodegradable, phosphate-free industrial detergents. These products are effective at removing a wide range of residual contents from IBC bottles while minimizing environmental impact through wastewater treatment. We test and evaluate cleaning formulations regularly to ensure they deliver the best possible results with the least environmental burden.

Pallet & Wood Recyclers

The composite pallets that form the base of IBC totes are recycled through our partnerships with local pallet recyclers and wood waste processors. Pallets in good condition are refurbished and returned to the supply chain. Those that are too damaged for reuse are processed into mulch, animal bedding, or biomass fuel, ensuring that even the wood component of every IBC finds a productive second life.

Transportation & Freight Partners

For deliveries and pickups that extend beyond our own fleet coverage area, we partner with regional freight carriers who serve the broader Intermountain West. These partners provide reliable transport for large orders heading to Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, and other states in our extended service territory. We select freight partners who share our commitment to efficiency and environmental responsibility in their own operations.
